The Carol and Gene Ludwig Family Foundation makes strategic charitable investments in support of medical research, education, and community engagement.

Established in 2002, the foundation seeks to create positive change within three core issue areas. Through strategic grantmaking, we invest in organizations that accelerate medical and scientific discovery, enable access to educational and economic opportunity for young people, and enrich and strengthen the communities where our founders live and work. We review grant proposals on an invitation-only basis and regrettably cannot accept unsolicited funding requests.

LFF-funded Investigator Li-Huei Tsai’s Lab Published a Study Providing New Insight into the Mechanisms of How Specific Frequencies of Light and Sound May Benefit Alzheimer’s Patients
In this new study in Nature, researchers at The Picower Institute for Learning and Memory of MIT reveal that flickering light and sound stimulation at a frequency of 40Hz can produce a specific brain rhythm that clears amyloid plaques from the brain via the brain’s glymphatic system, a recently discovered “plumbing” network parallel to the brain’s blood vessels.
